Eric DeKam is more part-time than any of the other guides, but when he is able to guide at Nine Mile, he is superb.  He started guiding for Rocky before the turn of the century. He has patience (for the animals and the hunters) and his ability to call elk is excellent. In fact, his favorite thing about guiding is outsmarting a bull elk and getting it to come within bow range. He has been guiding youth cow elk hunters through his “day job” and says the hunts have been 100% successful and very satisfying since most of them have never killed an elk.

Eric is Superintendent at Terra Energy-Natural Gas Producer. He has a wife and two daughters (all of whom hunt). Eric enjoys long-range shooting and teaching others the skill.
